QPR clinch Junior Hoilett signing
Queens Park Rangers have completed a seventh signing of a busy transfer window with the arrival of the Canadian David ‘Junior’ Hoilett on a four-year deal.
The 22-year-old moves to Loftus Road after rejecting the chance to sign a new contract with Blackburn Rovers, for whom he continually impressed last season but was unable to save from relegation to the Championship.
Hoilett played 92 times and scored 14 goals for Rovers after joining the club as a youngster under current QPR boss Mark Hughes.
"Junior is a player I know very well,” said Hughes upon his new signing’s unveiling as an Rs player.
“He was just a young boy trying to make his way in the game when I had him at Blackburn. It was difficult for him then because of work permit issues, but I had him training with the first team very early on because his talent was there for all to see.
“He's certainly a player that will enhance what we've got in the group and I am delighted he's chosen to come to us.”
Hoilett is believed to have had several options available before opting for QPR, and the Canadian can’t wait to get started.
"QPR are a club that are certainly heading in the right direction,” he said. The ambition to take this club to the next level was something I really wanted to be part of.
"The manager and the owners have huge ambitions to achieve things here and this is the perfect place for me to further my career.”
Hoilett joins Rob Green, Ryan Nelsen, Fabio Da Silva, Ji-Sung Park, Samba Diakite and Andy Johnson in moving to Loftus Road this summer.
