Premier League: Bolton’s survival hopes take a hit as QPR keep theirs alive

Bolton Wanderers were on their way to getting three vital points in their bid to avoid relegation from the Premier League, but instead they blew a 2-0 lead as they drew 2-2 with West Bromwich Albion.

James Morrison, who came off the bench to equalise in the last minute.
Bolton’s failure to hold onto the three points was a major blow to them, as Queens Park Rangers scored a late winner to beat Stoke City 1-0 at Loftus Road.

Djibril Cisse was the hero for QPR as the Frenchman converted Anton Ferdinand’s near post flick from Adel Taarabt’s corner. The victory means Mark Hughes’ men stayed out of the relegation zone, keeping them two points above Bolton and the drop zone. It was Cisse’s fifth goal in seven appearance since his move from Lazio in January.

Aston Villa’s relegation fears worsened as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Villa Park to Tottenham.

Ciaran Clark’s deflected shot had given Villa the lead, but with 10 men after Danny Rose was red carded, Spurs found an equaliser through Emmanuel Adebayor’s penalty after Richard Dunne had fouled SAndro. Villa are just a point ahead of QPR with one game to go.

The point didn’t do Tottenham any favours in their bid to catch Arsenal in third spot, and they had into the final game of the season a point behind their north London rivals for the automatic Champions League spot.

Goals from Clint Dempsey and Moussa Dembele guided Fulham to a 2-1 win over Sunderland, while Wolves and Everton endured a goalless draw. The good news for already-relegated Wolves was the fact they avoided equalling a record of 10 home defeats in a row in the Premier League.
