John Terry charged by FA over Anton Ferdinand incident

Chelsea’s John Terry has been charged by the FA over the clash with Anton Ferdinand at Loftus Road last October.

Terry was found not guilty of racially abusing QPR’s Ferdinand by a magistrate’s court earlier this month, and the FA charge of using "abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour" has been denied by the England defender.

The FA statement continued: "It is further alleged that this included a reference to the ethnic origin and/or colour and/or race of Ferdinand."

The charge is exactly the same as the one faced by Liverpool’s Luis Suárez following the incident with Manchester United’s Patrice Evra last October. Suárez’s case never went to court, but he was found guilty by the FA on their lower ‘balance of probabilities’ jurisdiction, banned for eight matches and fined £40,000.

“I deny the charge and I will be requesting the opportunity to attend the commission for a personal hearing,'' said Terry.
